Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect only what we need to respond to your enquiry or deliver our services. We do not sell your data. We do not use dark patterns — tricks designed to confuse you into sharing more than you intend, or making it harder to say no than yes. We keep this document honest and plain.

What we collect

• Contact form submissions — name, email, company, project description, and any other fields you fill in. Used solely to respond to you.
• Anonymous analytics — page views and referral sources only. No personal identifiers, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking.
• Cookies — only a preference cookie to remember your light/dark mode choice. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Why Vercel Analytics and not Google

We use Vercel Analytics, not Google Analytics. Here is why that matters to you:

• No cookie banner needed.Vercel Analytics does not use cookies or track individuals. Google Analytics does both, which is why most sites show those intrusive consent popups — we don't need one.
• Your data stays yours.Google's business model is built on turning visitor behaviour into advertising data. Vercel's is not.
• We only see aggregates. We know that a page was visited, not who visited it. There is no profile of you anywhere in our analytics.

This is a deliberate choice. It costs us richer data, but it is the right thing to do.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry or quote request.
• To fulfil a contract if we engage in a project together.
• To understand which pages are useful (aggregate analytics only).

We will never use your data for unsolicited marketing without your explicit consent.

How long we keep it

Contact enquiries are kept for up to 2 years in case of follow-up correspondence, then deleted. Project-related data is retained for the duration of the engagement plus any legally required period.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email us at contact@proteanbits.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU or EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
